One pill makes you larger…
I absolutely despise the fact that drug companies are allowed to advertise to the general public. We already are a nation of pill-seekers. I know people that, no matter what they go to the doctor for, they expect it to end with a trip to the pharmacy. And the ads on tv only make it worse.
Sure there’s a place for drugs, but the ads only serve to misguide the public. I’ve seen lots of them that tell you “Ask your doctor about Drug X”, even though they don’t really tell you what Drug X does. I’m sure doctors get lots of odd questions. Worse are those that give false or misleading information. There was one “cholesterol lowering” drug that told us that our cholesterol comes from our Aunt Polly. What they were trying to say was that it’s impacted by your genes as well as what you eat. But your Aunt Polly? Only if something transpired that your parents didn’t tell you about! But they’ve changed that now and no longer bring up Aunt Polly. Now they tell us we get cholesterol from bow-tie pasta. Now if you put Alfredo Sauce on your bow-tie pasta, that’s true. But by itself, pasta has no cholesterol.
It would be good if they stuck to accurate information. Better still, what if the drug companies *acted* like they cared and gave us information we could use. Such as healthy habits that would help reduce cholesterol. They should, since they want us to believe they really care.
