Why I Married Him

On October 13, 1989 (2 years after the fire), my friend Dick presented me with a gift of three boxes of “safety matches”. Since then, every year on that date, I have received something fire engine related. I have a book and puzzle, I have wooden fire engines, I have Lego fire engines (that was fun, putting them together!) and more.
He helped me to see that you could laugh even in the face of adversity. Below is a picture of this year’s fire engine. The 20th Anniversary. It’s even a flashlight! He did point out that it’s made in China and could contain lead based paint. I’ve been warned not to chew on it. (Click on the picture for a larger version.)
