Ain’t That A Shame

San Antonio has tree preservation laws, but they only apply to commercial development. Hence a local resident was allowed to do this to a 100+ year old Live Oak Tree. We’re betting it doesn’t live through a Texas Summer. There really should be a law. The worst part? The owner believes it will live.

The second image is from Google Maps. It shows you the tree BEFORE the poor tree was maimed. It’s the tree circled in red. Notice how it shaded much of that house AND the house to the left of it. And those 3 trees in blue? Totally gone. At best there’s a stump. Why would anyone do such a thing?

These trees never did anything to harm anyone. In fact, the entire area reaped a benefit from the shade that they provided. But now there are no trees and no grass. The grass has been replaced by rock. What a waste.
